Software Configuration Manager

Minneapolis, MN

The Configuration Management Group at Old Republic Title has two new positions to be filled. Candidates for the first should have a development background and for the second should have an Infrastructure background. The Configuration Managers collaborate with software developers, development leads, business analysts, project managers, and Infrastructure to manage code releases. They administer build processes and infrastructure and automated and manual deployment processes. They also administer company source code repositories used to manage code for release. In addition, they monitor and maintain assigned applications providing 3rd tier support & troubleshooting of technical application issues and a liaison relationship with vendor technical/support staff.  

Essential Functions:

  • Provide 3rd tier support & troubleshooting of technical application issues including cloud/SAAS apps; coordinate response from other IT teams.
  • Administering the automated deployment of code through all the environments.
  • Execute technical changes to support business ops.
  • Administering the source code libraries in the repository.
  • Establish liaison relationship with vendor technical/support staff.
  • Perform Software Installs/Upgrades/Configuration management of assigned applications.
  • Facilitating the integration of the build and deploy tools with other software development life cycle applications e.g. requirements and test management tools.
  • Document application architecture and implementation within ORT technical environment.
  • Execute configuration management procedures to promote approved code through the environments.
  • Staff, architect and guide LOB projects affecting supported apps.
  • Ability to work an on-call schedule with evening and weekend responsibilities as department activities demand.
  • Advocate and train IS staff on the configuration management process, procedures and documentation.
  • Participate in professional development and training to enhance configuration management capabilities.
  • Must be personable, positive and a professional representative of the company.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Ability to foster, develop and maintain professional and collaborative working relationships. Must be able to get along with others, i.e., peers, supervisors, other departments, and vendors.

Knowledge/Skills/Experience Required:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Able to manage and manipulate scripts in SQL and PowerShell.
  • Able to configure automated processes.
  • Ability to independently manage SCM projects and requests.
  • Proficient with Team Foundation Server.
  • Proficient with automated deployment methodologies.
  • Proficient with branching and merging methodologies.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Outlook.

Physical/Mental Demands:

  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to work with confidential information.
  • Ability to perform under pressure and be flexible with disruptions throughout the workday.
  • Repetitive and continual typing motion is required.
  • Sedentary work: Exerting up to 25 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting a majority of the time. Walking and standing are required, occasionally.
