Florida Governor Ron DeSantis appointed Old Republic Title Senior Vice President and Deputy General Counsel Ted Conner to the Port Tampa Bay Board of Commissioners on October 14, 2019. Conner joins Tampa Mayor Jane Castor, a Hillsborough County commissioner and two maritime community appointments in serving on the seven-member board. His term goes to November 2021.

Port Tampa Bay is Florida’s largest port, handling 37 million tons of cargo per year, supporting nearly 85,000 jobs and generating over $17 billion in annual economic impact. It serves as a top 10 U.S. cruise port and is home port to five cruise ships. It handles a wide array of cargo shipments and includes a major shipbuilding and repair center.

“Port Tampa Bay is a strong economic engine for the Tampa Bay area and the state,” explains Conner. “I am excited for the opportunity to further engage in Tampa.”

His responsibilities on the board include participating in long-term planning and policy development. He also will serve as an ambassador for the port across the state of Florida. “We are pleased Ted has been selected and appointed to serve this important regional facility,” says Carolyn Monroe, President, Old Republic National Title Holding Company. “We are proud he represents our Company in this way, connecting and serving the community where Old Republic Title is headquartered. The new relationships will offer additional channels to provide information about our Company to business interests in Florida and beyond.”

Conner has been a member of the Old Republic Title family since 2009. Prior to becoming Senior Vice President, ORNTIC, and Deputy General Counsel of Old Republic National Title Holding Company, he was General Counsel with Attorneys’ Title Fund Services based in Orlando, Florida.

A graduate of the University of Florida in Gainesville, he earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration with a major in real estate and his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Florida College of Law. Conner is a Florida board-certified real estate lawyer. He authored chapters in Florida Real Property Title Examination and Insurance and Florida Real Property Sales Transactions (Fla.CLE) and has served on the NAIC Liaison Committee of the American Land Title Association.
