Course Description: When a transaction involves a foreign seller, all parties need to be aware of the Foreign Investment in Real Property Tax Act, otherwise known as FIRPTA. The course will explain the basics of the statute and its application to sales of real property by foreign sellers. Probate in Texas: Participants will learn all about Probate in Texas. The course will discuss the concepts of passing Testate versus Intestate and how this ultimately affects the different avenues of estate proceedings available for a decedent’s estate (including probate of a will, muniment of title, independent/dependent administrations, heirship affidavits, etc.). By the end of the course, participants will be more familiar with how these issues can impact the sale of real property upon an owner’s death.
