Melissa Murphy Named President of Florida Land Title Association

Congratulations to Melissa Jay Murphy, Executive Vice President, Chief Legal Officer and General Counsel at Attorneys’ Title Fund Services (The Fund), who was installed as 2024-2025 president of the Florida Land Title Association (FLTA) at its annual convention in Palm Coast, Florida, on November 11, 2024.

Melissa is based at The Fund’s headquarters in Orlando, Florida. Part of the Old Republic Title Insurance Group, The Fund delivers next-level services, best-in-class education, and practice-enhancing resources to support Florida real estate attorney Member agents in closing real estate transactions.

Prior to joining The Fund, Melissa was in private practice in Gainesville, Florida, for over 30 years with a focus on real property transactional law. There, she was an agent for The Fund and her firm was recognized as a Top 25 Member of The Fund for many years. Additionally, Melissa served as an adjunct professor at the University of Florida’s law school and at the business school’s Master of Science in Real Estate program.

Melissa serves on the Executive Council of the Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Section of The Florida Bar and was Chair of the Section in 2006. She was recognized by the Section in 2020 with the prestigious William S. Belcher Lifetime Professionalism Award, which recognizes Melissa’s outstanding lifetime contributions to the Section, the Executive Council, Florida attorneys and the public in promoting the highest standards of ethics and professionalism. Before becoming President, she served as FLTA’s First Vice President and Chair of the Insurers Section. A featured speaker at industry events, seminars and continuing education courses, Melissa has authored numerous articles and materials on subjects relating to real estate and title insurance.
